Tygart Valley Chapter
West Virginia State Chapter National Wild Turkey Federation

The Tygart Valley Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation traveled
to Flatwoods for the 2010 annual West Virginia State Chapter Award
Banquet. During the awards presentation, the chapter was awarded a
red ribbon for hosting its annual Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics
    and Sportsmanship Day.

The highlight for the evening for chapter members was when their own
JAKES member, Caleb Corder, was presented with the 2010 West
Virginia State JAKES of the Year. Corder, 12, attends seventh grade
at Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School and is the son of Nicole and
Quentin Metzner and the nephew of Mike and Maxine Metzner.

The JAKES program started as a way to give kids the chance to
explore their outdoor world with events hosted across North America
    called JAKES Conservation Field Days.

Corder was recognized for his outstanding effort in support of activities
sponsored by West Virginia State Chapter and the Tygart Valley
Chapter of NWTF. He also earned the award through his conservation
projects, community services, leadership skills, sportsmanship and
being an active JAKES member. The annual Tygart Valley Chapters
JAKES Day will be June 25 at the Izaak Walton League on Files
    Creek Road in Beverly.
