| ACTION ALERT HIGH ALLEGHENY NATIONAL PARK |
The National Park Service has been asked by Senator Joe Manchin to begin a
Reconnaissance Survey for a High Allegheny National Park carved out of
Monongahela National Forest lands including Seneca Rocks, Dolly Sods,
Canaan Valley, Blackwater Canyon, and Spruce Knob. Proponents for the
National Park claim that hunting will be allowed but National Parks do not allow
hunting. Hunters have been assured that hunting will be allowed but actively
managing for wildlife habitat does not occur even on National Preserves. Both
Canaan Valley State Park and Blackwater State Park are in this National Park.

You are urged to contact your West Virginia’s Congressional Delegations
Representatives to oppose a National Park.
If you live or hunt in the proposed area you are urged to contact the County
Commissioners in those counties to ask for their support in opposing this
